Introducing the New Interset Logo

A fresh visual representation of what our insider threat detection technology really does.

Interset logo

Celebration is in the air here at Interset as we celebrate 450% growth in annual recurring revenue (ARR) and a new logo that better represents our brand.

Merriam-Webster’s dictionary definesinterset” as “set between or among things.” This is exactly what we are, and what our new logo represents. The Interset threat detection platform sits between existing security tools and big data analytics, between a SIEM and the billions of alerts being directed at and through it, and between a SOC analyst’s need for threat investigation and a CISO’s need for enterprise risk visibility.

Now, take a closer look at the logo. Do you see the two cylinders?

These cylinders aren’t just a neat trick of perception, they’re a representation of what our technology helps customers do. The immense volume of data inundating security teams makes it difficult to see the real threats that are looming inside of your business. Interset’s threat detection platform focuses your attention on the threats that matter, allowing your SOC resources to be optimally deployed for maximum efficiency. Our “noise-canceling” analytics provides a clear line of sight for measured threat detection and optimized response, allowing us to focus on and combat any inside threat.

Inside Threats

Insider threats have quickly become a grim reality for today’s organizations. Half of all companies have experienced an insider attack in the past 12 months, according to the 2018 Insider Threat Report, co-sponsored by Interset. Using unsupervised machine learning, we are able to process huge quantities of enterprise data to spot behavioral anomalies and accurately identify common insider threats, such as:

  • Account compromise, or unauthorized account usage by someone other than the account holder.
  • Account misuse, or unauthorized account usage by an account holder, such as a manager in the finance department who downloads executive salary information.
  • Infected host, or evidence that a network resource has been compromised and is behaving differently than expected (i.e. communicating over unexpected network applications).
  • Internal recon, or an attempt to gain information about targeted computers or networks that can be used as a step toward a larger attack seeking to exploit the target system.
  • Insider fraud, or an intentional act of deception involving financial and prescription transactions for purpose of personal gain. Financial fraud involves the illegal acquisition of assets like money for personal use or profit, whereas prescription fraud is the illegal acquisition of prescription drugs for personal use or profit.
  • Lateral movement, or unauthorized movement from system to system within an environment. This includes accessing network shares, using the Windows Task Scheduler to execute programs, using remote access tools like PsExec, or using remote desktop clients like Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP), DameWare, or Virtual Network Computing (VNC) to interact with target systems using a graphical user interface.
  • Data staging/exfiltration, or an unauthorized transfer of data from a computer. This type of transfer can be manually carried out by someone with physical access to a computer, or it can be automatically carried out through malicious programming over a network.

Enterprises across industries are using this technology to illuminate the dark corners of their networks and accurately identify and prioritize insider threats, eliminate false positives, and speed up the time it takes to see actionable results. Ultimately, this is what our new logo symbolizes for us, and it will serve as a reminder the mission we are committed to every day.

2017 was a remarkable success for all of us, and we are excited for the new adventures that are still ahead. To all of our customers, partners, friends, and families, we’d like to say, “Thank you for the continued support on this remarkable journey.”

We can’t wait to see what 2018 will bring!
